[Character] - TheHigherPlane

TheHigherPlane.net is a thought collective finding inspiration in music, art, media, style and life. Based in Ohio, USA and London, UK.

This is the first project I worked for TheHigherPlane - A set of five character drawings of their founders based on the provided photo references and the character information. It was a lot of fun working with Michael ( Founder of TheHigherPlane) in this project. Attached video shows the process of the vector drawing.

[illus] - Alaska Aurora

One of my school work in my art direction class: A print campaign for Alaska tourism to encourage people to explore deeper in Alaska by car trip rather than cruise tour. The posters illustrate a series of local legends about aurora. Meet the local Alaskan, hear the local stories.

I Miss Portobello

It has been 4 months since i left London (used to stay in Birmingham but I spent my last few weeks in London). The places I miss the most are those wonderful indie markets that you could only find in London probably; the big, busy, strange, weird market that full of artists (or even normal people but strong sense in art). Camden Town, Brick lane; and Portobello the antique market is my favorite. Yes, I bought this iconic red bus toy home, and a set of wood made letterpress with my initials- M, A, D.

The imagery of Portobello is fading like water drops in my mind - like what I did with this piece of work, I miss that, I miss the rare summer in England and I miss whom I ever met in that sexy country.

[holophonix] - Embroidery !!

[Graphic showing on the screen that directed to the embroidery machine]

[Embroidery machine]

I stumble upon an embroidery workshop just near to my place. I then sent over Holophonix's logo and decided to pay for a try! Let's see how it looks at the outcome!
[The software they using was Wilcom by Corel. ]

[ Handmade vintage version ]
Tried to make a vintage version of the 9cm diameter's fabric badge, with some burning marks of lighter, gas fire and ironing (on some copper embossing powder); plus folding and some water colour stains.

From a cartoon figure I drew for a friend, Rodrigo at couple of months ago, I then drew him an 'updated version' when he has got a moustache. It was initially just for fun - Richard was kidding on Rodrigo on his moustache-look, demostrating Rod's flirting on a black evil cat on a vintage solo sofa in a pub @ Bricklane. With my extremely enjoying mood in the last 3 weeks in London, I drew Renzo, Richard and myself too, with everyone's holding a pet! The illustration is also posted on Holophonix.org as an introduction to the crew of the music video ' Dying World'.

[illus] - Pro Bono: save the tiger

Few months ago I was requested by CW to do an illustration for a Pro Bono campaign - by local MYCAT (Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers). Initially I wasn't believe that Malaysian eat tiger meat. Was that really common? As I have never seen it in any restaurant that I have ever been.
Check it out here: http://www.malayantiger.net/
Friends who ever seen tiger meat selling in Malaysia please let me know...
The idea of the campaign was: " Tigers belong in the jungle not your stomach. Tigers are not food. Stop the Killing. " Idea and copy by CW.

Rabbitopus at Marmite pop up shop @ Regent St, London

[i'm gonna draw on the table!]
[done!]

I love Marmite, and I still remember me and my housemate were deeply addicted to Marmite while we just arrived in England - we had rice with marmite, vegie with marmite, and the Walkers' crisps with Marmite. Incredible.

So on that Nov 2009, kind of my last week in London, I found this Marmite Pop Up Shop in Regent Street. The whole idea was a pretty pop art thing - it only opens for 3 weeks during the Christmas season. I spoke to the owner, he said this is nothing to do with the Marmite company, just an art form to make money.

Well, the table are repainted every week for people to draw or write on it. I drew my character - Rabbitopus.

[logo] - Olympia Clinic, UK

Sketched some logo ideas for a clinic in the UK that specialise on sport injury, named Olympia Clinic. The colours of Olympic's game were remained and combined with the symbol of the venerable medical sign to stay connection with its previous existing logo. However, it is nothing to do with the coming London Olympic 2012.

[logo] - Fairbright Group, UK

Fairbright Group is a company providing multi services on the sectors of cleaning and property maintenence based in the UK. They requested a logo to be created for its stationery set and it has became the first task when I joined my new company - G10 Design.
The initial letters - FG were wiped out accross the middle, symbolizing its cleaning services.
